ENDEAVOR ODESSY ~ SKYLINE at ANACORTES, WASHINGTON  ~ 9.1.08

As we left Skyline in Anacortes we maneuvered around a group of kayakers.

This is the breakwater on the east side of the entrance channel.  You can just see another small boat entering the harbor.  This entrance is badly ‘silted in’ and the east side of the channel is dry at low tide.

We blew two short blasts on the whistle (remain on our starboard side) to no avail - followed by 5 short blasts (danger) – also ignored!

They just kept paddling ahead.

The Official Rules of the Road give “right of way” privileges to boats under sail, but kayaks?

For kayaks is it “every man (woman, dog, etc) for themselves!
